Risk Everything For children

Competition among companies to be the best selling is intense. Advertisements are companies’ main business strategy to stand out, and they are ways to grab people's attention and bring out emotions in people. Advertising has been around for a very long time, and it has evolved along with our society. As technology develops, advertising as a medium has changed to keep up with the times. Advertisements are everywhere now. People can see them on the street, hear them on the radio, and even watch them on television. These are not the only mediums for advertisement, for they can also be found in magazines. Most advertisements have a lure that draws people's attention, such as sex, safety, friendship and family.
Advertisements involving family relationships often grab people’s attention. Therefore, it usually becomes the topic of advertisements. Many people consider home as a safe harbor because it helps to keep out the wind and rain and it makes people feel comforted. Many people also compare parents with Polaris, otherwise known as the North Star, because it guides their children along on their way. Marsico Funds has successfully used the idea of family in their advertisement. In the advertisement, a father is standing in the darkness at home; he tries to coax his daughter to sleep because it has become late. After a while, his lovely girl falls asleep on his shoulder. One of her hands is holding a teddy bear. She feels comfortable lying on her father. On the wall, there are many pictures which consist of the impressive moments they spend together. The blurred pictures as the background gives prominence to this lovely moment with the father holding his daughter. In this case, the designer plans to persuade people that it is time to invest for their children’s future through Marsico Funds. In children’s eyes, parents are the most important people in their world. The father is holding his daughter as though he is holding his whole world. There is a big smile on his face. It is easy to see the father is willing to do everything for his daughter. He feels happy to share every moment with his daughter, and he is proud when his daughter relies on him. He is wondering what he can do to create the best blueprint for his daughter. He is pondering his daughter’s future. The light from the next room is shining on his face and his daughter’s hair. What a gorgeous picture! It seems that the designer tried to compare Marsico Funds with the light. Marsico Funds is the light that shines on people's lives and keeps people warm. The stock ticker above the family states “Priorities.” It shows that the father really cares about his daughter. His daughter always comes first in the family. Therefore, Marsico Funds is the best choice for people to appreciate their life.
After people glance at the picture, they will glance at the words. The statement: “Over time, our financial investments provide us opportunities to enjoy what we treasure the most,” opens the paragraph. This opening statement on the advertisement brings out the idea that the current generation is here to pave the way for the future of the next generation. To parents, children are the most important people in the world. Parents work hard so that their children will be able to inherit something. Every good parent wants their children to have better lives than they had. If children are not protected, how will society continue to exist? After the opening statement, the designer does not give a lot of information about the company but instead states, “You should consider the Funds' investment objectives, risks and charges and expenses carefully before investing.” Advertisements often seem as though they are one of your peers trying to give you advice. In this particular advertisement, it does not mention a word about their company and product, but a lot of warnings and suggestions for people. This is a successful indirect advertisement. The designer also highlights the sentence, “Mutual fund investing involves risks, including the possible loss of principal.” The advertisement does not sugar-coat the facts. When the company is not afraid to tell the negative details about themselves, people will put more trust in that company. On the other hand, it contributes the thought that parents will risk everything for their children. The picture gives people a sense of comfort but contradicts that feeling with the words beneath it. The words are objective, yet logical. It is easy for people to remember conflict. The picture in the advertisement promotes the warm and comfortable setting, yet it is unusual for business advertisement to show such things. Additionally, the company’s name and slogan appear on the left corner. The slogan says, “Helping you appreciate life.” As time progresses, more and more people think about the quality of their life, especially their children’s lives.
The particular advertisement could be considered as a wisdom strategy as Marsico Funds compete with other funds. This wisdom strategy is to touch people. In general, business always reminds people about money, stock, risk, crucial competition. However, this advertisement successfully uses family as the theme to promote a business product through a warm and lovely image. This image pulls out the resonance of people about family and love. Love is an universal thing that people know and share. This advertisement has achieved the goal because it democratizes one unique product through the ideas of love.
